--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Jose Diaz has been a friend and member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster for almost five years. His interest in the environmental area includes water as a universal resource to be shared by every citizen of the world.  Locally in the Lancaster area, the protection of soils and waterways from runoff and the creation and preservation of buffer strips in farmland and urban communities as a way of improving the quality of streams is one of his concerns. Through the work of the Green Sanctuary Committee at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster and participation with the LCWA, he hopes to increase the awareness of the parishioners and community about these needs.  In the past he has worked with Natural Resources Conservation Service and in the present with Green Leaf Plants.

Mr. Eric Myer is a hydrogeologist and a Lancaster County native who has recently moved back into the area after living in Iceland for 14 years. While in Iceland, he worked for a private environmental consulting firm specializing in surface runoff and groundwater modeling and the application of these models to water supply, watershed management and environmental impact assessment projects. Eric’s educational background consists of a B.S. in Environmental Geology from Bucknell University and a M.S. in Hydrogeology from The Ohio State University.  He was raised in a rural area south of Millersville, PA and he spent a large portion of his childhood in and around the Little Conestoga Creek. Therefore, he has a special personal connection to the creek. He realized the importance of properly managing and preserving the Little Conestoga Watershed, not just for the creek itself but also for the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay. The primary reason he became involved in the LCWA was because he wanted to contribute to the group‘s efforts in preserving and enhancing the Little Conestoga Watershed. He would very much like to take his involvement a step further and is therefore requesting a nomination for the Board of Directors of the LCWA.

Howard “Pete” Shaub, is currently a Preconstruction Services Manager at Horst Construction.  He has been a member of the LCWA for several years. The Little Conestoga runs through his property in Manor Township. All summer his six grandchildren and their friends play in and learn about this wonderful watershed. Pete is involved because his family wants to be good stewards of, improve the water quality and preserve the natural beauty and wildlife habitat of the watershed for future generations. The LCWA’s projects enables us to put this into action and see positive results while at the same time having FUN!

Kevin Bogari Background:  I am employed by Lancaster General Health as a Director and have worked there for 20 years. I live in East Hempfield Township with my wife and two children. Our home is located along Miller’s Run, the banks of which have been ravaged by erosion from storm water. I’ve been pursing remediation of the problem since 2004. My interest in preserving and enhancing the Little Conestoga watershed has become a higher priority to me as I have recently become the owner of waterfront property on the Chesapeake Bay where I was successful in receiving grant funding from the Chesapeake Bay Fund to improve the bay through the replacement of a septic system using nitrogen reduction technology.
